Avaya Advantage

What sets the IP600 apart from other business communications systems is the ability to deliver PBX features over a fully integrated IP infrastructure regardless of the size and complexity of your enterprise. Other communications systems graft IP functions onto more traditional business communication offerings - isolated upgrades here and patches there instead of solutions. The IP600 was designed from the ground up to provide a true IP enterprise-class converged voice and data network for your growing company.

Because the IP600 was designed to be scalable and flexible, it provides ways for you to meet needs that are unique to your company or industry. You may want to serve your application needs through industry specialists or build your own applications in-house. Avaya's family of products provides open application programming interfaces and is supported with a world-class development partner program. The ability of the IP600 to network, scale, cluster, and distribute functionality helps you to meet the needs of your growing enterprise.

Key Features

Total IP Solution
As your enterprise grows and changes, so do your communications needs. The IP600 can scale in size and functionality, to match and support your business requirements. The IP600 is a fully featured, highly reliable, open system with the ability to network, scale, cluster, and distribute functionality over geographically dispersed locations. As you add virtual workers, frequently traveling workers, or additional locations, this product will expand in an easy and economical way. When you need to add functionality to your system such as contact or call center applications, you can add Avaya's customer relationship management applications. And, for needs that are unique to your company or industry, this standards-based solution allows you the flexibility to address your application needs through industry specialists or by building your own in-house applications. The IP600 provides open application programming interfaces and adapts in a number of different ways to meet your needs as your enterprise grows.

Open Standards
The IP600 will help you leverage your existing infrastructure by providing feature and call processing capabilities that span multiple communication servers. The IP600 uses the Microsoft® Windows 2000 Workstation, an open standards platform, as its operating system. Windows 2000 provides a high degree of reliability and a new level of flexibility that allows multiple applications to co-reside on a single hardware platform. The IP600 also allows networking of Avaya communication servers, as well as other vendor-provided switches, that are Qsig compatible. Avaya communication servers with Qsig provide network transparency across the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), IP, and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) networks. To assure the end-to-end audio quality of Voice over IP, IP600 offers you network configuration guidelines that provide detailed recommendations for underlying IP networks. In addition, the IP600 uses a two-part, standards-based, Quality of Service implementation that includes the IP standard DiffServ settings to prioritize audio traffic on your network.

Avaya Call Processing Software
Efficient use of your network bandwidth and server resources makes the IP600 an important cost savings tool for your enterprise. Call Processing Software provides your business with a full-featured communication system and call control on a dynamic call-by-call basis. The IP600 provides you with call processing capabilities and supports IP endpoints and trunks, as well as common DEFINITY® System port circuit packs. In addition, it supports features such as telecommuting, Distributed Communications System (DCS) software, QSig networking, and Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Primary Rate Interface (PRI). Call Processing Software supports trunking and an attendant console.

Built-in Gatekeeper with Embedded Gateway
Another cost-conscious feature of the IP600 is its superior gateway functionality - the ability to fluidly connect networks with different communications protocols. The IP600 Voice over IP utilizes H.323 signaling, the dominant industry standard, for both its line side and trunk side signaling. It also uses two interface cards to implement IP Solutions on Avaya Communication Servers: the C-LAN and IP Media Processor. Both of these interfaces connect to the IP network via standard Ethernet. The C-LAN board supports a Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) connectivity between an IP600 or DEFINITY® Enterprise Communications Systems (ECS) and various servers and IP telephones. This board also provides IP signaling capabilities such as Registration, Admission, and Security (RAS) protocol including secure password. The IP Media Processor handles media stream processing and provides user/administrator-specified voice encoding /compression.

Additional Features

Multimedia Messaging Capability
Using INTUITY™ AUDIX® Multimedia Messaging with Message Manager, the advanced messaging capabilities of the IP600 result in improved productivity and customer relationship management. This system comes with TCP/IP digital networking, Audio Messaging Interchange Specifications (AMIS) networking, and it includes 240 subscribers and 240 Message Manager seats. With 8 ports and 50 hours maximum capacity, it provides voice, fax, and text messaging along with text-to-speech and message manager functionality on a single processor.

Site Administration Software
The IP600 offers management tools that will increase efficiency and reduce total cost of ownership for your business. This new MS Windows-based system management tool provides you with an easy-to-use interface into the call processing and messaging capabilities of the IP600. Via a LAN connection, you have quick access to any number of IP600 systems to complete routine moves/adds/changes and maintenance tasks. By using an internal "wizard", you can add both station and message mailbox information through a single point of entry. In addition, you can create shortcuts to frequently used system commands, and also create templates for many system objects that you use regularly. Through the Graphically Enhanced DEFINITY® Interface (GEDI), you will find a Windows-based SAT terminal with pull-down menus and online help for the more complex tasks that can't be completed through a wizard or template. As always, terminal emulation capabilities are available for those who prefer the standard SAT terminal interface.

Web-based Interface
The IP600 web-based interface streamlines and simplifies management processes by providing centralized system administration using a single tool. Every IP600 system includes the Windows 2000 Peer Web Server that allows you to access other IP600 systems by typing in the IP address of the system you want to administer. The "Peer Web Server" is like a Web home page that resides on the IP600 software instead of on an intranet or the Internet. Accessible via standard Web browsers such as Internet Explorer and Netscape, the Peer Web Server allows system administrators to manage the IP600 and the INTUITY™ System and to implement the automated backup-and-restore feature that allows for multiple backup schedules. For end users, this interface provides the ability to download additional applications to meet your specific needs.

Station Message Detail Recoding (SMDR) File Output /Call Accounting Information
The IP600 system increases efficiency and productivity by creating more flexible and customizable information-gathering tools. The IP600 writes SMDR records in real time to a file on the local hard disk. Because of the Ethernet connectivity provided by the IP600, you can access this information from anywhere on your LAN or WAN by attaching to the system just as you would any other Windows NT workstation on the network. If you require additional station information for call accounting programs, you can extract it easily by using the Call Accounting Export wizard. This wizard allows you to customize your output so that it is compatible with your own call accounting packages. You can schedule this information for export automatically. You can also set up call accounting programs - interfacing over a LAN - to extract this information, along with the SMDR records, automatically.

Disaster Recovery
Keeping your communications systems functioning is critical to the health of your enterprise. The LAN connectivity and file structure of the IP600 provides you with new disaster recovery options. Through a Web browser, you can schedule centralized backups of critical system information for all of your remote sites. You have the option of scheduling automatic backups to either a 128-MB removable PCMCIA flash disk (included with the IP600) or across the network to the file server of your choice. This flexibility ensures that multiple copies of translations, INTUITY™ System subscriber information, and even the Windows NT registry files, are available in case of an emergency. This same interface also provides the ability to restore saved information quickly. Simply by choosing the appropriate objects to recover, you can retrieve saved information from the LAN or the local PCMCIA disk and restore the system back to its original state.

Call Center Basic Functionality
The IP600 allows you to enhance your customer service, help desk, and other operations by providing powerful call routing capabilities. The IP600 solution includes a lower-cost call center solution for small offices with the industry-leading Call Center Basic capability and support for up to 50 Agents. Because the IP600 uses Call Processing Software, all inbound call-routing capabilities are available at no extra charge. Also included in the software are integrated announcements that provide call center "delay" announcements as well as other functions-no additional hardware is needed. The co-resident announcement capability provides eight channels, one hour of announcement storage, and replaces the TN 750C integrated announcement circuit pack.

Basic Call Management System (BCMS) is an on-board reporting tool that you can use to monitor the activity in your informal call center. BCMS provides very basic information, both real-time and historical, on the number of calls in queue, agent availability, average speed of answer, overall health of the call center, etc. For historical reporting, you can view the reports via BCMS, perform a "screen scrape" of that information, and insert it into a word processor or spreadsheet format for manipulation and printing. BCMS does not support scheduled printing of historical reports.
